UTown and Starbucks are coming soon!!!

Dear friends and residents of KFH!

UTown's Education Resource Centre is opening on the 23rd July (next week!!!) and it has tonnes of facilities that is open to all NUS students. There are computer rooms (a PC room, a Mac room, a Mixed room), a  multimedia room (for hi-tech video production), study rooms (for peace and quiet), and plenty more. The link bridge will be officially open on the 23rd July, so be sure to explore UTown. It is just about a 150 meters walk.

And, the best thing is... a 24-hour Starbucks will open on the 25th July! It will be the largest Starbucks in Singapore with seats for 60-70 pax in the air-conditioned area with plenty of power plugs. And, did I mention it's 24 hours???

Be sure to explore the new food places in UTown. There will be stalls/restaurants dedicated to Korean, Italian, Hong Kong, and local delights.

Now, the best thing of staying in KFH is that:

As of 23 July, you will be living in the most strategic place in campus. Compared to other residences in the main campus, KFH will be the nearest residence to UTown facilities. Though for now, we won't be able to access the master-resident classes held in the Tembusu and Cinnamon Residential Colleges, compared to UTown residents, we have better accessibility to main campus' facilities.

There is only one internal shuttle bus that goes to UTown and that is the D bus (re-routed). However, this will only stop at the very end of UTown. Thus, for residents of UTown colleges, they would have to walk/cycle another 350 metres to their colleges every day.

Aren't you all proud to stay in KFH?

Anyway, spread the word about UTown and Starbucks and be sure to explore them when they open next week.

Also, tell your friends about KFH in Facebook! Exciting weeks to come!

Welcoming The Year Of The Tiger!

So what have the lovely peepz at Kuok Foundation House been up to in welcoming the Lunar New Year of the Tiger?
The RAs and RAd @ Kuok had the pleasure of celebrating Chinese New Year (CNY) last Thursday, the 11th of February with the Kuok family. Thank you to all residents who made the evening a very memorable one! We discovered so many talents that night!

Well, we discovered talented dumpling chefs,

Hard at work, perfecting the skills of dumpling folding,
Needless to say some residents were already experts and taught us how to fold the dumplings nicely!

Our RAd Ms Geraldine Lee was handing out Lucky red packets with gold coins for all residents that evening! Gotten yours yet?
What's cooking @ the Dumpling station

We met new Mahjong Kakis (Singlish for buddies),

Level 6 RA Eunice, making sure that RAs were not bullying the newbies @ mahjong :)

We also watched Stephen Chow's fighting skills in Kung Fu hustle and munched on CNY goodies the night through.

Tan Jo must have been amazed at what he saw on Kung Fu Hustle while Liu Feng smiles for the camera :)
Residents were even invited to share their calligraphy prowess at the writing station :)
We had a wonderful time and fun memories of tossing Yu Sheng (Fish Salad) and basically just hanging out one last time before many of us set off on our little trips back for CNY celebrations with family and friends.
Do you know the significance of the Yu Sheng Salad dish & toss? From what I know, it's a practice of the Cantonese people (for more information on its significance, refer here - it was the website I was referring to in the video)
Thanks loves for a great time :)
Gong Xi Fa Cai!
Have a wonderful time celebrating the year of the tiger! May the year bring you great fortune, good health and good luck!

With Love,
Farah Cheah
